3New Hampshire Experience with ShelterLogic Garage in a Box
By John Krumm
First, I am trained to journeyman level in heating, ventelation and air conditioning so I know how to use tools and have mechanical background. While overall I am satisfied with this product, it had serious - very serious - shortcomings for the do-it-yourselfer who might try to dedicate a weekend to construct it.

The technical documentation outlining how to assemble it was abismal. The parts lists were not tied sufficiently to the technical drawings, causing 3 people to do a reverse parts determination. Literally, we had to count the number of screws which were 1.5 inches in length, as opposed to the 2.0 inch screws - and on and on. From knowing how many we had, we could then determine where they went. This was a time sucker.

Also, in my kit two poles were drilled completely wrong. Both poles had to have parallel drilled holes in the ends. In my case, 12 of the 14 poles were drilled correctly, and two were drilled at right angles. This led to a needless delay and a trip to a machine shop to correct the error imposed upon me by the manufacturer.

All said, I am now on the home stretch assembling this, with the cover and the metal skeleton in place. All I need to do now is to hang the two front and back zipper doors.

But, for what should have taken 8 hours to assemble, I am now 5 days into the project. It turned out fine and the price was right. But, anyone thinking of trying to do this themselves should seriously consider their mechanical abilities and adjust expections of time on task.... technical assistance required.... and help accordingly.

IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO VERY POOR DIRECTIONS AND TECHNICAL DOCUMENTS. WORSE DOCUMENTATION I EVER SAW SUPPORTING AN OTHERWISE SUPERB PRODUCT.

1ShelterLogic Peak Style Shelter
By KenG
First of all, I want to say that I didn't buy this product from this company. I purchased it approximately 18 months ago from another vendor so this review is not a reflection on this vendor.

Unlike the other reviewer, I had no problems erecting the frame or installing the cover. In fact, I was very pleased with my purchase immediately after construction and would have given it 5 stars at that time. 18 months later I rate it 1 star because of lack of durability. My shelter hasn't gone through 2 complete seasons and the cover has 3 major rips as can be seen in the photos I posted. After discovering the rips I realized there was a good reason why ShelterLogic guarantees their cover for just 1 year. Their covers won't last 2 years.

I called ShelterLogic and explained that my cover lasted less than 2 years. He was very polite but told me the only thing he could do for me was to give me a discount on the replacement cover. What could I do? I purchased the replacement cover and told my wife that "I now know how they make their money".

Bottomline: Buy this shelter only if you really need just temporary storage to protect valuables for about a year. Then throw it away. But plan on buying a replacement cover every other year if that temporary storage becomes semi-permanent.

My recommendation - If you need a shed for more than 2 years, build yourself a more permanent structure.
